EX POST FACTO is a bureau for historical research and digitization projects. As the name suggests it focuses on things past. A major part of its activities concerns the history of the post-war prosecution of Nazi (war)criminals in Germany and the (electronic) distribution of the trial judgments pronounced in its course. These judgments, published since 1968 in a multi-volume documentation series entitled Justiz und NS-Verbrechen / DDR-Justiz und NS-Verbrechen, can now also be obtained for research purposes from EX POST FACTO as digital documents.
Initiator of EX POST FACTO is Dick W. de Mildt. De Mildt was born in 1957 in The Hague, The Netherlands. He studied history at Leyden University. Between 1987 and 2006, he worked at the Institute of Criminal Law of the University of Amsterdam. In 1996 he earned his Ph.D with a study on the German 'Euthanasia' and 'Aktion Reinhard' trials. After that, he joined the Justiz und NS-Verbrechen-project to which he is still attached as co-editor and consultant. Dick de Mildt is also webmaster of the project's website with overviews of the post-war trials. The JuNSV website is located at the internet site of the law faculty of the University of Amsterdam:
